Laguna de apoyo

Soo, you want to chill out and swim in a lagoon? Perhaps in between take a beer or a nice meal? Even stay in a small house or hut on top of the old volcano?

Enter Laguna de apoyo!

It is fairly close to Granada, just like an hours (just from memory right now) drive or something like that. The trip goes through forest, there is a place for shopping, eating and get a great view over the whole lagoon, a mirador, but warning for a bit too “touristy”. The restaurants have people trying to sell you the best food and place, and the food isn’t bad or anything but not great.
Very nice views, and get something to drink, shop a few things in the small shops, and get those great pictures. But then head down to the lagoon.

There is houses for rent around the lagoon, and a couple of nice restaurants. Service is pretty good, well, Nicaraguan restaurants are not like the serviceminded waiters in some parts of europe (looking at you Italy), but are very nice and accomodating. The food is cooked for you, and fresh, nothing feels frozen or fake.

So, back to the lagoon. We like to stay at a place down by the water, I will check what it is called, you can’t miss it. There are som small cabins for renting, and a big restaurant and bar. You can rent small boats and kayaks, or just take a swim. Monkeys are around the thick forest surrounding the place.

Eat, drink and relax, highly recommended day trip or a couple of days.
